3D – CFD

The use of 3D-CFD-simulation allows a detailed analyses of general flow behaviour and of the sub-systems of an engine.

The main advantage of 3D-CFD-simulation is the flexibility regarding changes in design as well as variation of boundary conditions, which allows a cost-efficient study of various scenarios.

Scope of work:
    • Inlet and Outlet port:
      • Discharge coefficients (µσ, αK)
      • Swirl and tumble
    • Combustion simulation:
      • BMEP, IMEP, BSFC, etc.
      • Ignition delay
      • Emissions
      • Knocking behaviour, knocking probability
    • Injector:
      • Spray distribution
      • Mass flow
      • Cavitation
    • Calculation of fluid dynamics for common technical applications
